Description Korean feather reed grass (Calamagrostis brachytricha) is a handsome, vase-shaped, clump-forming grass that sprouts early in spring but doesn’t flower until late summer or early fall, at 4 to 5 feet tall, with fluffy, pink-tinged, silvery green plumes that mature to tan. The spiky, green foliage turns a soft yellow to orange in fall. Full sun to partial shade. Perennial; Zones 4 to 9. Though they share a common name, this species is not the same as the hybrid Calamagrostis x acutiflora. I’m aware that some online references claim that the seeds of both are sterile; that is incorrect. C. brachytricha does produce viable seeds that germinate readily in warm, bright conditions and can even self-sow. C. x acutiflora does not produce viable seeds, as far as I know. Collected in November 2025. At least 25 seeds. Shipping to U.S. addresses only. Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
