Description Commonly known as swamp agrimony, small-flowered agrimony, southern agrimony, or harvestlice. This clump-forming perennial reaches 3 to 5 feet tall, with an upright, unbranched stem that carries pinnately compound leaves and is topped with an upright to arching raceme of small yellow flowers in mid or late summer to early fall. The bur-like fall seedpods readily grab onto fur, feathers, or clothing and can be a real bother to pick off, making this species a poor choice for a typical home garden. The flowers are attractive to pollinators, though, and it has some interesting medicinal uses, so you might consider adding it to a meadow planting, where you are unlikely to brush by the seeds, and where it can spread by rhizomes and self-sowing. Swamp agrimony is native to much of the eastern half of North America; these seeds are from plants growing wild here, in Bucks County, PA.
