Aquilegia vulgaris ex double pink (Columbine) [25 Seeds]

Description It’s hard to choose from among the many pretty columbines, but this is one of my personal favorites. It came to me as ‘Nora Barlow’, but I’m not 100% sure that ID is correct, as it can have more of a ruffled, “petticoat” look than the pointy-petaled, starry ‘Barlow’ types. From more than a foot or two away, they look pretty much the same, but I’m calling it “double pink” here just to avoid being misleading. The poofy pink flowers bloom atop 18- to 30-inch-tall stems in late spring to early summer. It flowers at the same time as Arkansas bluestar (Amsonia hubrichtii) and makes a lovely complement to that plant’s light blue flowers. I do have other columbines growing elsewhere here at Hayefield, so there’s a possibility that these seeds may produce some off-type plants, but they’re pretty well separated from the others and should come at least mostly true. Full sun to light shade. Perennial; Zones 3 to 9. Collected in mid to late June 2025. At least 25 seeds. Shipping to U.S. addresses only. Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
