Description Cannot ship this species to Connecticut, Maine, or Washington. With its brushy spikes (technically racemes) of deep purple, late spring to early summer flowers and pretty, pinnately compound foliage, false indigo bush (Amorpha fruticosa) is an interesting and distinctive deciduous shrub that typically matures in the range of 6 to 12 feet tall. It may develop some yellowish fall color. The plants can spread by runners, and by self-sowing. Though it is native to many parts of the United States, it is considered an invasive species in areas where it is not native, particularly the Pacific Northwest and parts of the Northeast, so consider doing further research to find out how it performs in your specific area before buying the seeds. Full sun to partial shade; prefers average to wet soil but is adaptable. Reportedly hardy in Zones 4 to 9. Collected in late September 2025. At least 15 seeds. Unknown ecotype.
