Germination Information: For the best chance of success with these seeds, I recommend surface-sowing them in pots in fall to late winter. Set them outdoors in a spot protected from mice so they can get a chilling period and then germinate when conditions are right in spring. The winter-sowing approach (sowing in a milk jug) can work well for this species. Seeds I sowed on January 1 started sprouting on April 4; your own experience may be different. Seeds I sowed in a pot and set outside on March 8 began germinating on April 17; again, your experience may vary. If you sow after February, consider giving the pot an artificial chilling period of about a month, particularly if you live where the weather warms quickly in spring. It is possible that at least some of these seeds could germinate if you sow them indoors under lights in spring, or outdoors in summer. I have not tried that myself, but if you do and no seedlings appear within a month or so, then try the artificial chilling period mentioned above before moving them back to a bright place. Note that this information will not appear on the seed packet you receive. Please read the description as well before ordering.
