Description Swamp marigold (Bidens aristosa)—not to be confused with the lower-growing perennial marsh marigold (Caltha palustis)—is an annual that typically reaches 4 to 5 feet tall, with upright, branching stems. The two plants do have a few things in common, though: both prefer moist to wet soil (though swap marigold is more adaptable); both have bright yellow blooms (in late summer and fall on swamp marigold); and both are North American natives (in much of the eastern half of the U.S. for swamp marigold). Bidens aristosa has several other common names, including bur marigold, bearded beggarticks, and tickseed sunflower. Its names may not sound very appealing, but its showy flowers are a magnet for bees, butterflies, and a variety of other pollinators, and birds devour the seeds. (Those that the birds miss are likely to self-sow.) Full sun to partial shade. Annual. Collected in mid October 2025. At least 20 seeds. Unknown ecotype. Shipping to U.S. addresses only. Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
