Germination Information: Honestly, I had a little trouble getting this one going here when I first tried it, and you too may find that you need to experiment to find the approach that works best for you. One option is to try sowing the tiny seeds indoors, just pressed into the surface of the growing medium, in late winter to mid spring. The seedlings don’t particularly like to be transplanted, so those plants may not reach their full potential, but then let them self sow and the offspring will be much happier. I ended up getting the best results with winter-sowing strawberry blite: seeds sown in a milk jug on January 7 started sprouting on March 22. (Your experience may vary.) Or, you could try sowing directly in your garden in late winter to late spring. That seems to be the most common sowing recommendation, but I’ve had mixed results with it: Sometimes the seedlings don’t appear until the following year. Still, it seems to work for others and may well work for you. If you let the “fruits” dry on the plant, they’ll likely drop seeds and you won’t have to sow it again.
