If you have a question about the available quantity, please contact me before placing your order. Germination Information: I recommend these seeds for experienced seed-starters only, partly because they are very tiny and partly because they may require some experimentation. The easiest approach is to surface-sow the seeds outdoors, in the area where you’d like them to grow, pretty much any time of year, so they can eventually germinate when the conditions are right. The winter-sowing approach (sowing in milk jugs in late fall to midwinter) also works great with these seeds; that’s usually how I start my plants. Those I winter-sowed on January 1 began sprouting on April 4; your experience may be different. If you prefer to start the seeds indoors, consider giving the pot an artificial chilling period for about a month before moving it to a warm, bright place for germination. It is possible that these seeds could germinate if you start them in warm, bright conditions without a chilling period. (Seeds I sowed indoors, under lights, on March 20, started sprouting on April 5; again, your experience may vary. It seemed to me that the overall germination percentage was somewhat less this way, but it still worked.) If you don’t see any signs of sprouting after about 3 to 4 weeks, then give the pot a chilling period as described above. Because these seeds are so small, you’ll want to be very careful when you sow them: Try to space them out as best you can. What I usually do is sprinkle a small pinch over the surface of the growing medium in a 3- to 4-inch pot or half-gallon milk jug. As I mention in the description, figure on about 30% of them showing variegation. You’ll be able to see which ones have markings even while they are still very small. I usually let them get 3 or 4 leaves, then carefully prick out the best variegated ones and transplant them to individual pots. Note that this information will not appear on the seed packet you receive. Please read the description as well before ordering.
