Description Lovely in leaf and striking in bloom, willow-leaved loosestrife (Lysimachia ephemerum) graces the garden with dense clumps of gray-green foliage and 2- to 5-foot-tall flowering stems lined with small, starry, white flowers in mid to late summer. (I realize that’s quite a range in heights, but it really depends on the site: in a hot, dry raised bed, my plants got barely 2 feet; in a new ground-level bed with good fertility and more consistent soil moisture, they got up to 5 feet this past year. I’d figure 3 to 4 feet in most sites.) Both the beds and the flowers can have a faint tinge of pink. If you’re looking for something different as a vertical accent in a border, this uncommon species is definitely worth considering. It’s definitely a clump-former, not a runner like some loosestrife species. The plants grow best in full sun to light shade and average to evenly moist soil. Perennial; Zones 6 to 8, probably. Collected in September and October 2025. At least 15 seeds. Shipping to U.S. addresses only. Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
